Have I Done Enough For Myself?

This question glared at me from the computer screen this week:

Have I done enough for myself?

It just stared at me, and I had to share it.

Have I done enough for myself?                                                                                                The answer came back, “No.”

Of course, that led to:

What else can you do that you aren’t?                                                                        Unfortunately, way too many answers came back.

Which led to:

Why? and What will you do about that now that you know?

See, I don’t only question you, I question myself first.

So, what about you, have you done or are you doing enough for yourself?

  • Enough to achieve your written goals?
  • Enough for each day to be just a little better than the day before?
  • Enough to maintain and develop your positive relationships?
  • Enough to educate yourself – formally or informally?
  • Enough to move towards the career you want?
  • Enough to help others in genuine need?
  • Enough to improve your health and fitness?
  • Enough to ensure you have real time for family and friends?
  • Enough to ensure you have real time for yourself?
  • Enough to promote financial comfort?

Why not?

  • Are you afraid?
  • Are you overwhelmed?
  • Do you not know what to do?
  • Do you need to learn more first?
  • Is there not enough time?
  • Are others imposing on your time?
  • Do you need to learn to say no and stick to it?
  • Are others making your decisions for you?
  • Have you even noticed that you’ve forgotten yourself?

Well, the question propelled me to action, and I want to encourage you to take some action too. Don’t just grab the first thing you find to do. Give it some thought, decide on the things you want to do, and then proceed with intention. This is about actually getting things done, not about beginning things that have no end.

Then ask yourself in a month:

What have I done for myself? Is it enough?
